Seko Fofana and Jean-Philippe Krasso scored in each half for Cote d’Ivoire as they opened the 2023 Africa Cup of Nations tournament with a 2-0 victory over Guinea-Bissau.
Fofana gave the Elephants the perfect start in the fourth minute, when he blasted home from inside the area as early as the fourth minute.
He almost made it 2-0 before half-time, but his shot was tipped onto the bar by Ouparine Djoco.
Jean-Philippe Krasso hooked in the second after the break after fine control under pressure in the box.
The Ivorians have now gone top of Group A with three points, ahead of Nigeria’s game against Equatorial Guinea on Sunday.
