Share

In a remarkable leap towards social responsibility, Capricorn Group has allocated a generous N.7 million into impactful community projects across Namibia and Botswana for the year ending June 30, 2025. This investment, highlighted in their newly released 2025 Social Value Report, signifies a noteworthy increase from N.8 million in the previous year, demonstrating the group’s unwavering commitment to fostering positive change in the region.

The infusion of funds has been strategically directed towards addressing pressing issues such as food insecurity, educational disparities, youth unemployment, healthcare access, poverty alleviation, and sports development. These areas were identified as critical by the Capricorn Foundation, alongside its subsidiaries—Bank Windhoek, Capricorn Asset Management, Entrepo, and Bank Gaborone—each contributing to a holistic approach to corporate social responsibility.

Gerhard Fourie, Chairperson of Capricorn Group and the Foundation, expressed pride in the progress made towards alleviating key social challenges. “We take immense satisfaction in our strides toward addressing food insecurity and educational inequality in Namibia. The Capricorn Foundation has evolved into a reliable ally for community upliftment. Our concerted efforts across different entities exemplify the strength found in collaboration, innovation, and purposeful action,” Fourie stated.

Marlize Horn, Executive Officer of the Capricorn Foundation, added that their focus remains on enhancing their impact over the next five years. With a clear vision to leverage their past experiences, the Foundation aims to support other non-profit organizations in building their capacities, particularly as they expand their reach in Botswana.

Founded in 2020, the Capricorn Foundation has already celebrated five successful years of operations, during which it has invested a remarkable N.6 million in over 100 community-focused projects. This commitment not only exemplifies Capricorn Group’s philosophy of creating tangible value for communities but also aligns with the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals.

What makes this initiative particularly commendable is its alignment with employee engagement through the Changemaker volunteer programme, encouraging personnel to actively participate in community development. Capricorn Group’s holistic approach to corporate social responsibility not only highlights their corporate ethos but also inspires other businesses in the region to follow suit.

As the organization sets its sights on the future, there’s an optimistic learning curve ahead—one that encourages collaboration, innovation, and a shared commitment to nurturing resilient communities in Namibia and Botswana.
