In a heartfelt gathering held on Saturday, traditional and community leaders in Ajah, Lagos State, rallied the local government, led by Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu, to establish a much-needed general hospital for the residents. This call comes amidst growing concerns about healthcare access as the population in Ajah continues to rise.

The occasion was the 47th birthday of the revered Baale of Ajah, Ismael Adewale, a respected figure who has notably contributed to the community’s development. During the celebration, community leaders, including prominent figures like the APC chairmanship candidate for Eti-Osa, Biliaminu Akanbi, expressed their admiration for the Baale’s leadership and dedication to progress. They believe that upgrading the Baale to a full-fledged Oba would not only solidify traditional representation but also attract further development to Ajah.

Mr. Adewale emphasized the importance of healthcare infrastructure, stating, “We need hospitals and better infrastructure. The Ajah under-bridge area is messy and needs urgent attention. We are doing our part to keep the area clean and functional, but more government support is essential.” His sentiments reflect the collective desire for timely medical care, especially for a community that has witnessed substantial growth.

Moreover, Adewale highlighted security as a pressing concern, urging for an increased government security presence in Ajah. “Our people are trying. We are committed to making Ajah a safe and livable place for all,” he asserted, showcasing the community’s proactive stance toward maintaining safety and harmony.

Community Secretary General Kazeem Odunlami echoed the calls for a general hospital, lauding the Baale’s previous efforts in providing free medical outreach programs. “Our leader has provided regular free health services, which is why we’re calling for a proper general hospital,” he noted, underscoring the community’s gratitude for the Baale’s selfless service.

Musa Muhammad from the Arewa community conveyed a shared sentiment of loyalty and respect for the Baale’s leadership, emphasizing the communal efforts to support initiatives aimed at Ajah’s development. “Whatever he asks us to do in support of the community, we stand by him,” he affirmed.

The gathering not only celebrated the Baale’s existing contributions but also set the stage for future advancements in healthcare, security, and overall community well-being. As Ajah seeks to elevate its profile and secure necessary resources, the collective voices of its leaders are a powerful testament to the hope and aspiration for a thriving future.

As community members continue to advocate for essential services, it’s clear that Ajah is not just a locality but a vibrant community aiming for substantial progress and improved living conditions for every resident.
