Kwantlen Polytechnic University Welcomes First Tunisian Students Under Exciting Exchange Program
In a groundbreaking move aimed at enriching the educational landscape, Kwantlen Polytechnic University (KPU) is set to welcome a vibrant group of students from Université Ibn Khaldoun (UIK) in Tunisia in the spring semester of 2026. This initiative marks a significant step in the Global Exchange, Local Impact: Tunisia-Canada Scholar Program, a collaboration that includes Nova Scotia Community College (NSCC) and is proudly funded by Global Affairs Canada.
This program isn’t just about education; it’s about creating a global community where cultural exchange thrives. The ambitious endeavor will allow 25 Tunisian students to study for a full semester at KPU’s esteemed Wilson School of Design and the Melville School of Business. This unique opportunity ensures that students will have their tuition fees, accommodations, and even health insurance covered, allowing them to focus on their studies and fully immerse themselves in their new surroundings.
According to Zainab Al-koubaisi, KPU’s Director of Global Engagement, this initiative is designed not only to foster academic growth but also to weave a rich tapestry of cultural diversity within KPU’s classrooms. Al-koubaisi emphasizes the incredible networking opportunities that arise from such exchanges, stating, “Our hope is that adding diverse dynamics into our classrooms will expand our students’ potential, providing valuable experiences for everyone involved.”
This partnership is slated to continue until the 2029 school year, with an aim of bringing in between one to four students each semester, showcasing KPU’s commitment to international education and holistic learning. Al-koubaisi envisions this program as a means to equip students with essential market-driven skills across various domains, from business and technology to design—skills that will be invaluable as they step into diverse professional landscapes.
KPU’s focus on supporting women and marginalized groups through the scholarship program is an integral aspect of this initiative.
