Comments

When visitors leave comments on Africazine, we collect the data shown in the comments form, along with the visitor’s IP address and browser user agent string to assist with spam detection. An anonymized string derived from your email address (also known as a hash) may be sent to the Gravatar service to check if you are using it. You can find the Gravatar service privacy policy here: https://automattic.com/privacy/. After your comment is approved, your profile picture will be visible to the public in the context of your comment.

If you upload images to Africazine, please avoid including embedded location data (EXIF GPS). Visitors to the website can download and extract location data from images available on the site.

Cookies

Africazine uses cookies to improve your browsing experience. If you leave a comment, you may opt-in to saving your name, email address, and website in cookies for your convenience, so you do not have to fill in your details again when leaving another comment. These cookies will last for one year.

If you visit our login page, we will set a temporary cookie to check whether your browser accepts cookies. This cookie contains no personal data and is discarded when you close your browser.

When you log in, we will set up several cookies to save your login information and screen display preferences. Login cookies last for two days, while screen options cookies last for a year. If you select “Remember Me,” your login will persist for two weeks. If you log out, the login cookies will be removed.

If you edit or publish an article, an additional cookie will be saved in your browser. This cookie contains no personal data and simply indicates the post ID of the article you just edited. It expires after one day.

Aggregated Content from Partners and Press Releases

Africazine aggregates content from partners and features press releases submitted by third parties. While we aim to provide high-quality and relevant content, Africazine does not assume responsibility for the accuracy or viewpoints expressed in content provided by external sources. This content is governed by the privacy policies of the respective providers. Please be aware that our partners and contributors may collect data about you, use cookies, and embed additional third-party tracking.

Embedded Content from Other Websites

Articles on Africazine may include embedded content (such as videos, images, or articles). Embedded content from other websites behaves the same way as if you visited the other website. These external sites may collect data about you, use cookies, embed third-party tracking, and monitor your interaction with that embedded content, including tracking your interactions if you have an account and are logged in to those websites.

Who We Share Your Data With

If you request a password reset, your IP address will be included in the reset email. Africazine does not sell, trade, or otherwise transfer your personally identifiable information to external parties, except as outlined in this Privacy Policy.

How Long We Retain Your Data

When you leave a comment, the comment and its metadata are retained indefinitely. This allows us to automatically recognize and approve any follow-up comments instead of holding them in a moderation queue.

For users who register on Africazine, we store the personal information they provide in their user profile. All registered users can view, edit, or delete their personal information at any time (except their username). Website administrators can also view and edit this information.

Your Rights Over Your Data

If you have an account on Africazine or have left comments, you can request an exported file of the personal data we hold about you, including any data you have provided to us. You can also request that we erase any personal data we hold about you, except data we are required to keep for administrative, legal, or security purposes.

Where Your Data Is Sent

Visitor comments may be checked through an automated spam detection service. Africazine uses standard security protocols to protect your data.

Compliance with GDPR and Other Regulations

Africazine complies with GDPR and other relevant data protection regulations. You have the right to access, correct, or delete your personal data, and we will respond to such requests within the timeframe required by law.
