The Electoral Commission of Zambia is set to announce the 40 members of Parliament elected through a new proportional representation system.
This announcement follows the completion of seat distribution to qualifying political parties, as mandated by the Constitution of Zambia (Amendment) Act No. 13 of 2025. The new system allocates 40 seats in the National Assembly, specifically reserved for women, youth, and persons with disabilities.

The Electoral Commission of Zambia (ECZ) has confirmed that the 40 seats in the National Assembly are designated for special interest groups. This includes 20 seats for women, 15 for youth, and five for persons with disabilities. The allocation is based on the total valid votes received by presidential candidates from qualifying political parties.
Patricia Luhanga, the ECZ corporate affairs manager, stated that political parties have submitted their lists for these seats. The allocation process uses a quota-based formula as prescribed by law, ensuring a fair representation of these groups in the National Assembly.
