Kaoma District Officials Emphasize Collaboration to Improve Nutrition and Reduce Stunting

In a recent meeting in Kaoma, Ilinanga Makoba emphasized the need for collaboration among stakeholders to tackle malnutrition and reduce stunting levels. He highlighted the importance of nutrition as a cornerstone for the well-being of the population.

During the District Nutrition Coordinating Committee meeting, Makoba called for a united effort among all parties involved in nutrition programs. He believes that working together is essential to effectively address the stunting crisis in Zambia. The call to action aims to expand nutritional initiatives beyond local boundaries.

Maybin Mwangala, the District Food and Nutrition Coordinator, introduced a mapping tool designed to identify key stakeholders. This tool is intended to enhance coordination and ensure sustainable nutrition activities in the district. Mwangala stressed that understanding the multifaceted nature of malnutrition is crucial for effective intervention.

ADRA’s Commitment to Nutritional Standards

The Adventist Development and Relief Agency (ADRA) is actively working to improve nutritional standards in various communities within Kaoma District. ADRA’s Project Officer, Alick Mvula, reported progress under the Transformative Emergency Response for Nutrition Improvement in Zambia (TERNIZA) project.

The meeting brought together representatives from health, agriculture, and natural resources sectors, showcasing a collaborative approach to tackling nutrition challenges.
