Gabon is making strides in infrastructure development, aiming to enhance regional living standards.
Governor Francis Oyinamono of Ngounié province recently toured ongoing projects in southern Gabon, focusing on road and housing construction. In the Doufouna district, a 12-kilometer road is under construction, with a kilometer of concrete already laid. Meanwhile, 30 housing units are being built in the Mivingui district, with the first phase nearing completion.
Governor Oyinamono Reviews Key Infrastructure Projects
During his visit, Governor Oyinamono inspected the progress of a 12-kilometer road in the Doufouna district. The stabilization work is complete, and a kilometer of concrete road has been laid across the Doufouna, Mougonzi, and Mindanda neighborhoods. Remaining tasks include laying tiles and sidewalks and closing open storm drains.
In the Mivingui district, the governor checked on the construction of 30 standard housing units. The first phase, consisting of 11 villas, is at a 92% completion rate and is scheduled for completion in September. The second phase, which includes 19 villas, is currently at 50% completion.
Challenges Faced in Project Execution
Despite the positive developments, the governor inquired about delays in the projects. Officials attributed these setbacks to challenges in material supply and high transportation costs. The local community remains optimistic about the completion of these projects and their potential long-term benefits for the province.
