Morocco has reached a significant milestone in its climate governance by completing the international technical review of its first Biennial Transparency Report.

This review, conducted from April 13 to 17, 2026, evaluated the quality and accuracy of Morocco’s climate data, particularly concerning greenhouse gas emissions and its Nationally Determined Contribution under the Paris Agreement.

Morocco’s Commitment to Climate Transparency

The closing session of the workshop was led by Bouzekri Razi, Secretary General of the Sustainable Development Department. It brought together various stakeholders involved in preparing and assessing the report.

Morocco’s Biennial Transparency Report was developed with assistance from the Global Environment Facility and the United Nations Development Programme. This initiative aligns with Article 13 of the Paris Agreement, emphasizing the importance of transparency in climate action.

Key Findings from the Technical Review

An international team of experts from the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change conducted the review. Their assessment focused on the completeness of the data submitted by Morocco.
