The Ojota-Opebi Link Bridge in Lagos is set to open this week, marking a significant development in the city’s transport infrastructure.
The Lagos State Government announced that the bridge will be inaugurated during President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s two-day visit on Wednesday and Thursday. This project aims to alleviate traffic congestion along major commuter routes connecting residential areas to Ikeja’s Central Business District.
New Bridge to Ease Lagos Traffic Congestion
The Ojota-Opebi Link Bridge is designed to provide a direct and efficient connection between Ikeja and Ojota, addressing long-standing traffic issues. Previously, commuters faced limited and indirect road connections in this area.
Originally conceived over 20 years ago during Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s administration, the project was revived in January 2022 under Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu. The bridge is part of a broader initiative to enhance the Traffic Management and Transportation Pillar of the state’s THEMES Developmental Agenda.
