Last year, the airport welcomed 1.71 million passengers, surpassing pre-COVID-19 levels by 20%. The airport’s summer schedule now includes 146 weekly flights, an increase from 111 before the pandemic, indicating strong growth potential in passenger traffic.

Taichung International Airport has set a new record with 1.71 million passengers recorded last year. This figure not only highlights the airport’s recovery post-pandemic but also its growing significance as a travel hub. The Civil Aviation Administration Director, Ho Shu-ping, emphasized the airport’s potential for further growth.

The airport has made significant improvements, including the completion of a new taxiway that allows for quicker runway access. Additional X-ray machines have been installed to expedite baggage screening, enhancing the overall passenger experience.

Enhancements and Future Plans for Taichung Airport

The government has upgraded the airport’s two terminals, increasing their capacity to 3.69 million passengers annually. A third terminal is currently under construction and is expected to be completed by 2040, further expanding the airport’s capabilities.

Starlux Airlines plays a crucial role in the airport’s operations, operating 46 weekly flights under the summer schedule. The airline has recently launched new international routes, including flights to Tokyo and upcoming routes to Kumamoto and Sapporo.
