Riverton Academy Extension Set to Open Its Doors in January 2026: A New Era of Education for Disadvantaged Learners

MASVINGO – Exciting news is coming from the educational sector in Zimbabwe! Riverton Group of Schools is all set to launch its latest venture, the Riverton Academy Extension (Murinye), welcoming Form 1 learners in January 2026. This initiative is a game-changer for students in underserved communities, offering quality education at reasonable fees.
The school is strategically located about 70 km southeast of Masvingo town, right along the Masvingo-Great Zimbabwe Monuments – Topora Daitai Road. The school’s entrance tests for prospective Form 1 students are scheduled for Saturday, November 15, 2025, providing an opportunity for many to secure a spot in what promises to be an enriching academic environment.
Director Philimon Mutangiri, who has been at the helm of the well-regarded Riverton Academy Main Campus for over 22 years, shared his vision for the new extension. “Riverton Academy Extension is not just about education; it’s about giving students from marginalized rural communities access to quality learning experiences,” he stated. The school aims to cater to a modest enrolment of 80-100 learners, ensuring an intimate and focused educational atmosphere.
Students at Riverton Academy Extension will benefit from an internationally recognized Cambridge curriculum, with a special emphasis on Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics (STEM) as well as commercial subjects. Initial offerings will include essential subjects such as Physics, Chemistry, Biology, Computer Science, Mathematics, Geography, Accounts, and English Language.
Mutangiri underscored the importance of the school’s boarding model. “By offering residential facilities, we’re not just alleviating travel burdens for students from remote areas; we’re fostering an immersive learning experience that encourages both academic and personal growth,” he noted.
Riverton Academy Main Campus has established an impressive track record, securing national recognition for its students’ outstanding performances in Cambridge International examinations. The aspiration for the new Murinye campus is to replicate this success and cultivate a culture of achievement.
