The Institut français du Maroc (IFM) has launched its new cultural season for 2026-2027, titled “J-Lioum: ce qui vient,” emphasizing innovation across various fields.

This season will explore transformations in contemporary societies through a diverse program at 12 IFM branches. The initiative aims to merge scientific research, visual arts, and cultural practices, showcasing the collaborative spirit between France and Morocco.

J-Lioum: A New Cultural Signature for Morocco

J-Lioum has quickly become a hallmark of the IFM’s cultural programming, following the success of its inaugural edition. This year, the focus is on innovation, not just in technology but also in artistic creation and cultural practices. The director of IFM, Chloé Goupille, emphasized that each edition will open a new chapter with its unique theme.

Michel Richard, the cultural attaché of IFM, highlighted that innovation encompasses more than technology; it involves individuals who experiment and propose new ways of engaging with the world. This season aims to foster dialogue among sciences, ideas, and various forms of artistic expression.

Key Events and Highlights of the Season

The season will feature notable events, including a talk by Nobel laureate Philippe Aghion on the economic and social implications of artificial intelligence. Additionally, the new debate series “Les Innovantes” will spotlight women in research and innovation.

Digital arts will play a significant role, with the 10th edition of Novembre Numérique showcasing music, visual arts, and immersive experiences. The choreographer Mourad Merzouki will lead a project combining dance and digital arts, set for creation in 2027.
