CVsky is expanding its fleet to enhance domestic air travel in Cabo Verde.

Singapore-based lessor Avation has delivered a new ATR 72-600 to CVsky, marking the first of two aircraft to join the airline’s fleet. This addition aims to improve connectivity between the islands and reduce travel times significantly.

CVsky’s Ambitious Expansion Plans

Founded in 2024 and based in Praia, CVsky operates under the Linhas Aéreas de Cabo Verde brand. The airline began its operations in 2025 using an ACMI model, which includes leasing aircraft and operational services. By the IATA Summer 2026 season, it plans to launch its own operations, focusing on enhancing domestic travel.

CVsky’s goals include establishing better links from Praia to islands like São Vicente and São Nicolau. The airline also aims to serve destinations that have historically been underserved by commercial aviation.

Cabo Verde’s Unique Travel Challenges

Traveling between the islands can be time-consuming, with sea crossings taking up to seven hours. In contrast, an ATR flight covers the same distance in approximately 40 minutes, making air travel a more efficient option. The average flight duration in Cabo Verde’s domestic network is around 36 minutes.

The ATR 72-600 is well-suited for the region, capable of taking off and landing on short runways, including those at Maio, São Nicolau, and Fogo.

Next Steps for CVsky

  • Launch of own operations in IATA Summer 2026 season.
  • Introduction of a Sal–Fogo route.
  • Increase in flight frequency and new route offerings.

CVsky’s fleet expansion is set to transform air travel in Cabo Verde.
