ARDHI University is set to significantly boost its student intake in the coming years.
In the 2026/2027 academic year, ARU will welcome an additional 2,000 students thanks to the completion of a 36bn/- Higher Education for Economic Transformation (HEET) project. This initiative has expanded the university’s facilities, adding seven laboratories, 15 studios, 10 workshops, and 26 classrooms with a total capacity of 7,039 people.
Expansion of ARU Facilities to Accommodate More Students
The HEET project has transformed ARU’s infrastructure, enhancing its ability to serve a growing student population. With the new facilities nearing completion, the university is poised to play a pivotal role in producing professionals essential for national development. Parliamentary Standing Committee Chairperson Ms Husna Sekiboko praised the management for their effective oversight of the project.
Ms Sekiboko highlighted the strategic importance of ARU, emphasizing that development discussions cannot exclude the university’s contributions. The project is now 99 percent complete, with only minor works remaining before the facilities are fully operational.
Tackling Accommodation Challenges Amidst Growth
While the expanded infrastructure allows for increased admissions, ARU faces significant accommodation challenges. The university currently has around 7,000 students, and the additional 2,000 will strain existing hostel facilities. ARU’s Deputy Vice Chancellor, Professor Makarius Mdemu, noted the urgent need for resources to expand housing options for students.
The university is actively seeking solutions to address these accommodation issues, ensuring that the influx of new students can be adequately supported.
