Fidson Healthcare Plc is taking significant steps to enhance environmental cleanliness in Lagos.
On World Cleanup Day 2026, Fidson mobilised staff and volunteers for a cleanup initiative in the Obanikoro, Fadeyi, Palmgrove, and Shomolu areas. This effort, known as Project Clean Sweep 2026, was conducted in partnership with the African Cleanup Initiative and supported by the Lagos Waste Management Authority.

Fidson Healthcare’s initiative reflects its dedication to corporate social responsibility and sustainability. The company aims to foster a cleaner and healthier environment in its host community. Adejoke Alli, Associate Director of Business Operations at Fidson, emphasised the importance of taking action for a greener Lagos.
Alli stated that the initiative is part of their Environmental, Social and Governance (ESG) framework, aiming to reduce the carbon footprint and promote good health. The exercise also involved engaging local traders on the importance of maintaining cleanliness in their surroundings.
Community Engagement in Environmental Sustainability
Alexander Kibe, Founder and President of the African Cleanup Initiative, highlighted the need for community involvement in maintaining a clean environment. He noted that the group has been active in environmental cleanup for 16 years across Nigeria’s six geopolitical zones.
Kibe stressed that changing people’s behaviour is crucial for lasting solutions to waste pollution. Volunteers engaged with residents and traders, encouraging them to take responsibility for their surroundings beyond the cleanup event.
