Africazine:

Vietnam’s railway fare reductions aim to boost travel during peak season.

Passengers can now enjoy a 10 per cent fare reduction on SE-series Reunification Express trains along the North-South route. This translates to savings of between VND 110,000 and VND 280,000 (approximately USD 4.20 and USD 10.70) per ticket, depending on the class of travel.

Travelers on the SNT1, SNT2, SNT4, and SNT5 services between Ho Chi Minh City and Nha Trang will benefit from discounts ranging from VND 70,000 to VND 160,000 (approximately USD 2.70 to USD 6.10) per ticket. Additionally, on the Hanoi-Vinh route, fares for the NA1 and NA2 services have been reduced by VND 50,000 to VND 80,000 (approximately USD 1.90 to USD 3.10) for four-berth sleeper compartments.

The NA1 service also offers discounted six-berth sleeper fares for trains departing on Thursdays and Fridays, while the NA2 service applies similar discounts for departures on Fridays, Saturdays, and Sundays.

Reasons Behind the Fare Reductions

A representative of Railway Transport JSC stated that the fare reductions are a response to lower operating costs due to declining domestic fuel prices. This strategic move aims to pass on the benefits of reduced input costs to passengers, encouraging more people to choose rail travel during the busy summer season.
