University of Lagos Opens N30m Healthcare Facility for Arts Students and Staff

The University of Lagos has launched a groundbreaking healthcare facility for its Faculty of Arts.

The Cityview Hospital Faculty of Arts Clinic, inaugurated with a budget of N30m, is the first faculty-based clinic in the university’s history. It aims to provide timely healthcare services to students and staff, particularly during critical examination periods.

UNILAG’s First Faculty-Based Clinic Opens

The Cityview Hospital Faculty of Arts Clinic was officially commissioned on the UNILAG campus, marking a significant milestone for the university community. This facility will cater to both the Faculty of Arts and the Faculty of Creative Arts, ensuring that students and staff have access to essential medical care.

Prof. Akanbi Ilupeju, the Dean of the Faculty of Arts, emphasized the initiative’s importance in addressing health challenges faced by students. He noted that the clinic is designed to minimize disruptions to academic activities caused by health emergencies, particularly during examination periods.

Lifeline for Students and Staff

The clinic will operate Monday through Friday, staffed with a doctor and a nurse to provide comprehensive healthcare services. This initiative is expected to enhance the welfare of students and staff, offering them a reliable source of medical assistance within the academic environment.

Mr. Francis Shonubi, the National Social Secretary of the UNILAG Alumni Association, hailed the clinic as a historic achievement for the university. He highlighted its role in improving the overall health and wellness of the university community.

Future of Healthcare at UNILAG

  • The clinic will operate full-time from Monday to Friday.
  • A standby doctor and nurse will be available on duty.
  • Healthcare services will be exclusively for members of the Faculty of Arts and the Faculty of Creative Arts.
