The Yobe State Government has received praise from UNICEF for its effective cholera prevention measures.

During a visit to the Governor’s Office in Damaturu, UNICEF’s Chief of Field Office, Mr. Francis Butucci, highlighted the state’s impressive public health preparedness. Despite the rainy season, which typically raises cholera risks, Yobe State has not reported any confirmed cases, thanks to the government’s proactive interventions and public health campaigns.

Mr. Butucci recognized the timely preventive actions taken by the Yobe State Government, which include coordinated disease surveillance and sustained public health awareness efforts. He noted that these initiatives have played a crucial role in maintaining the state’s cholera-free status during a season when outbreaks are more likely.

He also emphasized the importance of continuing to implement UNICEF’s technical recommendations, which have been instrumental in enhancing public health interventions in the region. The collaboration between UNICEF and the Yobe State Government has been vital in addressing health challenges.
