The Zimbabwean government is advancing its land tenure programme, surveying thousands of farms for title deed issuance.

Surveying Farms for Title Deeds in Zimbabwe
The government is actively working to provide secure and bankable tenure to beneficiaries of the Land Reform Programme. So far, between 10,000 and 15,000 farms have been completely surveyed, allowing for the processing of title deeds. Farmers are encouraged to verify their land’s survey status at district lands offices before heading to the One-Stop Centre in Harare.
Many farmers have traveled long distances, only to find that their farms have not been surveyed. This situation highlights the need for proper registration and verification to streamline the process. The government aims to establish the number of farms needing surveys in each district, which will help deploy survey teams more efficiently.
Decentralizing the Title Deed Process
The title deed programme, launched by President Mnangagwa, aims to conclude Zimbabwe’s Land Reform Programme. The government anticipates that around 360,000 A1 farmers and 24,000 A2 farmers will eventually receive title deeds. To facilitate this, officials will register farmers during provincial agricultural shows, bringing services closer to farming communities.
This decentralized approach is expected to ease the pressure on the Harare One-Stop Centre and accelerate the issuance of title deeds, making the process more accessible for farmers across the country.
