Agadir inaugurates four new community facilities to enhance local services

Agadir is taking significant steps to enhance community life with new facilities.

Recently, Agadir inaugurated four new community facilities as part of its Urban Development Program for 2020-2024. This initiative coincides with the 27th anniversary of the Throne Day and aims to improve access to local services for residents.

Agadir Unveils New Cultural and Social Facilities

The inauguration ceremony was led by Aziz Akhannouch, the head of the government and president of the Agadir Municipal Council. He was joined by key officials, including Saïd Amzazi, the wali of the Souss-Massa region, and Karim Achengli, president of the Souss-Massa Regional Council. These new facilities are designed to enhance the cultural, social, and sports offerings in Agadir.

Among the highlights is the Cheikh Maa El Aïnin Cultural Complex in the Lakhiam neighborhood. This two-floor facility covers a built area of 1,430 square meters and aims to host various artistic and community activities. The project was realized with a total budget of 14 million dirhams, with 6.87 million dirhams allocated for construction.

Investment in Community Well-being

The new facilities include a three-level Social Activity Complex in the Amsernat neighborhood, designed for training and community engagement. Additionally, a socio-educational facility combining a women’s shelter and a youth center has been inaugurated in the Riad Salam area. This facility supports learning and offers resources for women and youth.

The Bensergao Wifaq indoor swimming pool also enhances Agadir’s sports infrastructure, featuring a 25-meter by 12.5-meter swimming area and seating for 180 spectators. Construction for this pool began in August 2022 and has now been completed.

Future Developments in Agadir
