Africazine:

Egypt braces for a sweltering day as high humidity elevates the heat index.

The Egyptian Meteorological Authority forecasts extremely hot and humid weather across the country on Friday. The heat index will feel 1-2 degrees higher due to humidity, with temperatures reaching 42°C in Qena and 41°C in Aswan.

Extreme Heat and Humidity Across Egypt

The EMA warns that hot and humid conditions will dominate most of Egypt during the day. In the south, temperatures will soar, particularly in cities like Qena and Aswan, where the mercury is expected to hit 42°C and 41°C, respectively.

High humidity levels will amplify the discomfort, making it feel even hotter. This combination of heat and humidity poses challenges for outdoor activities and daily life.

Weather Conditions and Visibility Issues

In addition to the heat, mist and fog are expected to affect visibility on agricultural and highway roads from the north to Cairo, Canal Cities, Central Sinai, and North Upper Egypt. Drivers should exercise caution due to these conditions.

Wind speeds are predicted to reach between 30 and 35 km/h, providing some relief but not enough to mitigate the heat. The Mediterranean Sea will see moderate waves, while the Red Sea and Gulf of Suez may experience turbulent conditions.

  • Moderate and humid weather expected at night and early morning.
  • Temperatures in Cairo predicted to be 35°C.
  • Conditions in South Upper Egypt to remain moderately hot.

As Egypt faces extreme weather, residents must stay informed and take precautions against the heat.
