Kaduna-Kano-Jigawa-Katsina-Maradi railway project reaches 60 percent completion

The Kaduna–Kano–Jigawa–Katsina–Maradi railway project is making significant progress, now at 60% completion.

According to Mr. Ali Bukar, the Resident Engineer overseeing the project, construction activities are intensifying, particularly along the Kano–Dutse axis. The project is expected to be completed by December 2027.

Railway Project Reaches Major Milestone

The Federal Government’s ambitious railway project is advancing steadily across its two major corridors. Key milestones have been recorded along the 104-kilometre Kano–Jigawa corridor, with construction activities including piling and substructure works for several bridges reaching advanced stages.

Superstructure installations are also ongoing at multiple locations, indicating a robust pace of development. The project is fully funded under the Renewed Hope Infrastructure Scheme of President Bola Tinubu.

Navigating Challenges in Construction

Construction teams are currently focused on overcoming challenges posed by difficult terrain and waterways. The ongoing bridge works are crucial for ensuring the railway’s structural integrity and operational efficiency.

As the project progresses, the Federal Ministry of Transportation is closely monitoring developments to ensure timely completion. The inspection by the Presidential Media Team highlights the government’s commitment to infrastructure development in the North-West region.

Upcoming Steps for the Railway Project

  • Completion of construction activities by December 2027.
  • Continued monitoring and assessment by the Federal Ministry of Transportation.
  • Inspection of additional projects in Kano and Jigawa states.

This railway project is a key infrastructure initiative for Nigeria’s North-West region.
