Prof. Nentawe Yilwatda Re-elected as APC National Chairman at Convention

The All Progressives Congress (APC) solidifies its leadership ahead of the 2027 elections.

Prof. Nentawe Yilwatda has been re-elected as the National Chairman of the APC, while Surajudeen Basiru takes on the role of National Secretary. This decision was made during the party’s 4th elective National Convention held at Eagles Square, Abuja.

APC Elects New Leadership in Abuja

The APC’s National Convention was marked by the election of key officials through consensus. Prof. Yilwatda’s return as National Chairman reflects the party’s commitment to stability and continuity in leadership. Surajudeen Basiru’s election as National Secretary is also significant as the party prepares for upcoming electoral challenges.

Notably, Emmanuel Enekwu and Hon. Chidi Duru were removed from their positions as Deputy National Chairman and Deputy National Organising Secretary, respectively. This change indicates a shift in the party’s internal dynamics as it gears up for the future.

NWC Changes and Party Dynamics

The presence of prominent leaders, including President Bola Tinubu and Vice President Kashim Shettima, underscores the importance of this convention. The event, themed “Unity in Progress: Consolidating the Renewed Hope Agenda,” was organized by a committee led by former Katsina State Governor Aminu Masari.

The APC has been active in holding state and zonal congresses to establish executive members, setting the stage for this national gathering. The party’s strategic moves are crucial as it navigates the political landscape ahead of the 2027 general elections.

Upcoming APC Primaries and Future Plans

  • The APC is expected to hold its primaries for various elective positions in the coming weeks.

The APC is positioning itself for a strong showing in the upcoming elections with its newly elected leadership.
