Tanger Med Port Processes Over 11 Million TEUs in 2025

The port of Tanger Med has demonstrated significant growth in container traffic and overall tonnage in 2025.

In 2025, the port processed 11,106,164 twenty-foot equivalent units (TEUs), marking an 8.4% increase from 2024. This growth is attributed to the commissioning of the latest extension of the TC4 terminal, operated by APM Terminals. Additionally, the total tonnage of goods handled reached 161 million tons, up 13.3% from the previous year.

Container Traffic Surges at Tanger Med

The container terminals at Tanger Med have seen a remarkable increase in activity. The 11.1 million TEUs processed in 2025 reflect the port’s strategic importance in facilitating trade. This rise is primarily due to enhanced capacity from the TC4 terminal expansion.

Moreover, the port’s role in supporting national exports is evident, as it handled 535,203 trucks in 2025, a 3.6% increase year-on-year. This growth is driven by a 4.8% rise in industrial product exports and a 4.3% increase in agri-food exports.

Passenger Traffic and Hydrocarbons Show Growth

Passenger traffic at the port also experienced a positive trend, with 3,220,422 travelers and 895,341 vehicles recorded in 2025. This represents increases of 5.7% and 5%, respectively, compared to the previous year. The successful implementation of a confirmed ticketing system has improved the management of passenger flows.

In terms of bulk cargo, liquid hydrocarbons saw a significant increase, reaching 8,641,481 tons, a 13% rise from the previous year. This contrasts with a decline in solid bulk cargo, which totaled 522,493 tons, primarily due to fluctuations in cereal imports.

Future Developments at Tanger Med

  • Continued optimization of port operations
  • Focus on enhancing infrastructure and service quality
  • Monitoring of international automotive market trends

The growth of Tanger Med port underscores its vital role in regional and international logistics.
