“Major Shakeup: All Employment Contracts for IGF Staff Terminated!”

Accra Metropolitan Assembly Announces Employment Changes: A Fresh Start on the Horizon

In an important development for the workforce of the Accra Metropolitan Assembly (AMA), the organization has announced a significant change affecting all staff on the Internally Generated Fund (IGF) payroll. Effective January 31, 2026, AMA has decided to terminate contracts for this group of employees, with the exception of those hired from May 2025 onwards.

This move, confirmed by a recent letter from the Human Resource Department, marks a new chapter for the Assembly as it prepares for future challenges and opportunities. The letter, signed by Douglas Na Annoful, the Metro Coordinating Director, reassured staff of their valued contributions, indicating that the decision was necessary to streamline their operations.

Staff members are encouraged to return any Assembly property in their possession to their respective heads of departments by the termination date. Furthermore, for those looking to remain involved with AMA, there is a potential pathway to re-employment. Interested parties are advised to submit their applications by January 15, 2026—a clear signal that the Assembly is preparing to attract fresh talent in the coming years.

While such changes can be unsettling, they also open doors to new possibilities. The AMA is undoubtedly positioning itself to create a more efficient structure that could enhance public service delivery in the city of Accra. As the capital of Ghana, Accra is the hub of much of the country’s governmental and economic activity, making such organizational shifts crucial for the overall development of the metropolitan area.

The Accra community has a rich tapestry of cultural and economic offerings, and a revamped assembly could lead to progressive initiatives that further bolster its growth. This announcement has the potential to set the tone for positive development in the heart of Ghana.

As we move into the new year, it’ll be interesting to see how these changes unfold and how the AMA plans to engage the fresh wave of talent hoping to contribute to Accra’s future. Change is often the catalyst for progress, bringing with it the capacity to rethink strategies and work towards enhanced service delivery for all residents.

Stay tuned for more updates as the AMA embarks on this exciting journey toward transformation!
