Cairo Design Week Blooms with Flower Bar's Botanical Creations
This year’s Cairo Design Week has taken the vibrant landscapes of Heliopolis, Zamalek, and Downtown by storm, thanks to the remarkable installations from Flower Bar. Known for their distinctive approach, they have revolutionized the way botanical elements can enhance and celebrate the unique character of each district.
Flower Bar, founded by the talented Khaled El Wakil, is adept at mixing both natural and artificial plants to create immersive experiences that resonate with the spirit of an environment. Their philosophy? Each space holds its own story, and they are here to interpret it through lush greenery. “We study a space, understand its mood, and work with greenery in a way that feels like it belongs to the place,” El Wakil shares. This year, Flower Bar took their creativity to new heights, bringing a refreshing touch to Cairo’s historic venues with their innovative designs.
One of the highlights of this year’s event was the ‘Intertwined Botanica’ installation located at the entrance of the Aisha Fahmy Palace. This stunning piece was executed in collaboration with Design Avenue, emphasizing a blend of natural beauty and artistic expression. Further enhancing this cultural experience was their contribution to ‘Aicha’s Table’ by Reem Abou El Makarem, alongside a Photography Exhibition by Phlog, filling the palace with an enchanting atmosphere.
In another jaw-dropping setting at the Greater Cairo Library, the team shaped the environment for ‘Samiha Kamel’s Gathering Salon’ by Else Lab. Flower Bar carefully curated the botanical arrangements, defining movement spaces while enriching the gathering experience. Their presence continued to bloom in Downtown’s Tamara Haus with exhibitions like ‘Al Hadra’ by Design Point’s Karim El Hayawan and Nehal Leheta, reflecting design boundaries beautifully intertwined with nature.
Nihal Abdelaziz, a communications consultant for Cairo Design Week, praised Flower Bar’s evolving role in the festival. “This is our third year with Cairo Design Week,” she notes. “The variety increases every year and the formats keep changing. There is always something new to respond to.” Her sentiments echo the excitement surrounding the intersection of events, interior design, and natural beauty that Flower Bar has embraced.
Whether you’re a seasoned design enthusiast or simply an admirer of nature’s beauty, Cairo Design Week’s collaboration with Flower Bar has proven that the bond between nature and architecture is both profound and enriching. The colorful installations not only breathe life into the urban landscape but also inspire a deeper appreciation for the environment that encloses us.
Cairo continues to shine as a hub of creativity, showcasing how art and nature can harmoniously coexist, leaving us with a sense of rejuvenation and connection to the spaces we inhabit. So, if you haven’t yet explored this year’s delightful creations, now is the perfect time to immerse yourself in the botanical wonder of Cairo Design Week!
