Norwegian Viva Makes a Splash at Alexandria Port in Egypt!

Norwegian Viva Boosts Tourism in Alexandria, Egypt

The Port of Alexandria recently had the thrilling experience of hosting the Norwegian Viva, a state-of-the-art cruise ship that made three spectacular calls between September and October 2025. This vibrant ship brought a total of nearly 14,000 guests to the beautiful shores of Egypt during this period—a significant boost for local tourism!

On October 13, during its latest visit, the Norwegian Viva received a warm welcome from various dignitaries, including key representatives from the Alexandria Port Authority, Egyptian Tourism Promotion Authority, the Ministry of Transport, and the Ministry of Interior. This gathering not only highlights the cooperation among different governmental bodies but also underscores the importance of tourism to Egypt’s economy.

Ensuring the safe docking of the Norwegian Viva was a priority. According to a release from the Alexandria Port Authority, tugs and pilot boats escorted the vessel safely into port while security vessels monitored the entry closely. They even employed radar technology to guarantee the highest safety standards for all passengers and crew.

Once docked, guests of the Norwegian Viva were welcomed warmly by the General Administration of Passenger Movement, who expedited the arrival procedures, processing everyone smoothly within just a few minutes. This efficiency ensures that tourists can jump straight into exploring Egypt’s historic landmarks, from the timeless wonders of the Pyramids to the vibrant culture of Alexandria itself.

Following their tours, guests set sail for Greece on October 14, but the excitement doesn’t stop there. The Norwegian Viva is scheduled to return to Alexandria once again on October 21 as part of its fall cruise series that includes stunning destinations across the Eastern Mediterranean. Guests can look forward to visiting iconic locations in Greece, Turkey, and Cyprus, making this cruise a top choice for adventurers seeking rich experiences.

This season is turning out to be prosperous for the Port of Alexandria, which has also welcomed other cruise operators, including Holland America Line’s Nieuw Statendam and Virgin’s Resilient Lady in recent months. Such developments emphasize Alexandria’s growing status as a key destination in the Mediterranean cruise circuit.

As the city continues to embrace tourism, Alexandria stands as a beautiful example of Egypt’s potential to attract international visitors. With more cruise calls on the horizon, both the local economy and travelers are poised to benefit greatly from these international connections.
