In an inspiring move that reflects a commitment to community engagement, the National Urban Land Development Company (SONATUR) has allocated a significant 70 million FCFA (approximately 0,000) towards social initiatives in Bobo-Dioulasso. As part of its Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) efforts, the ambitious initiative kicked off on October 3, 2025, showcasing SONATUR’s desire to make a positive impact locally, particularly in healthcare and education.
Highlighting the importance of this investment, the Minister of Urban Planning and Housing, Mikailou Sidibe, personally delivered a check of 25 million CFA francs to Gustave Y. Dabire, the Director General of the Souro Sanou University Hospital (CHU-SS). This generous donation is earmarked for enhancements in the anatomy-pathology department, significantly boosting cancer care services in the Guiriko region. This effort aligns with the global observance of Pink October, a month dedicated to raising awareness about breast cancer, further underscoring the intent behind the contributions.
The day was filled with impactful activities, commencing with the check presentation at the CHU-SS, which was followed by a tour of the solar installations at the Dogona Health and Social Promotion Center (CSPS). The day concluded on a celebratory note as SONATUR recognized the achievements of students and teachers at Dogona primary school, highlighting the company’s overarching goal of education enhancement in the region.
SONATUR’s Director General, Boureima Ouattara, emphasized the importance of their ongoing social programs, which include developing over 100 hectares to provide serviced plots for the community while addressing undeveloped land issues. Their vision of providing equitable access to land continues to unfold, with plans to sell developed sites in a transparent manner.
Minister Sidibe also took the opportunity to praise the hard work of local educators, announcing that the top four students from Dogona public primary school would each receive scholarships valued at 100,000 CFA francs. This school, which opened its doors in October 2024, has achieved an impressive 100% success rate in its first set of examinations. In recognition of the dedication shown by the school’s ten teachers, each received a laptop to support their educational endeavors.
SONATUR’s equitable initiatives and robust commitment to social responsibility not only promote sustainable growth but also foster a spirit of solidarity within Bobo-Dioulasso, marking a significant step forward for urban development and community welfare in the region.
