Innovation took center stage at CcHUB Namibia earlier this month during the exciting Seedr Namibia 2.0: AI Edition Demo Day. This vibrant event showcased the dynamic creativity of nine of Namibia’s most promising innovators, who passionately pitched their cutting-edge solutions across various vital sectors, including education, healthcare, and the growing creative economy.
Seedr Namibia 2.0 was structured to highlight the talents of two distinct groups: bright students and researchers from the Namibia University of Science and Technology participated in Track A, while Track B featured early-stage startups from every corner of the country. Over a period filled with intensive mentorship, engaging design sprints, and careful preparation, the anticipation built as three student teams and six startups prepared to present their groundbreaking innovations.
The atmosphere buzzed with excitement as they faced a panel of expert judges from the innovation ecosystem, all eager to discover which ideas might soon change the landscape of Namibia’s tech scene. The stakes were high, and two standout winners emerged from the pack:
1. Axon AI – This innovative team showcased a remarkable AI-powered system designed to speed up laboratory diagnostics, significantly enhancing the speed and accuracy of medical tests.
2. Okaluli – This initiative focuses on democratizing access to educational resources by providing generative AI-powered tools tailored for underserved communities lacking reliable broadband connectivity.
Both teams proudly walked away with a ,000 SAFE investment, while Okaluli received an additional ,000 grant from the Seed Capital Fund of Namibia. This remarkable support empowers them to continue their vital work.
Looking ahead, the winning teams will embark on a three-month incubation program designed to polish their products, connect with customers, and achieve essential milestones that will ultimately lead to scalable, impactful solutions for communities in Namibia and beyond.
Launched in July 2025, Seedr Namibia 2.0 is an evolution of the original Seedr Namibia initiative that first launched in 2021, spearheaded by CcHUB Namibia and Startup Namibia. By focusing on AI-driven innovation, this program not only nurtures the talent within Namibia but also aligns with CcHUB Namibia’s mission to harness social capital and technology, driving economic prosperity across the continent.
