Exciting New Green Categories Debut at the 2025 Temvelo Awards!

In a vibrant move toward sustainability, the Eswatini Environment Authority (EEA) has officially launched the media campaign for the anticipated Temvelo Awards 2025! Announced on Friday, August 23, this initiative is not just a celebration; it marks a significant step in encouraging innovation and recognizing the pioneers in environmental stewardship across Eswatini.

At the heart of this event is the Honorable Minister of Environment, Jane Mkhonta-Simelane, who introduced two exciting new categories meant to elevate the recognition of those making strides in this critical area. The Green Hotel Excellence Award aims to spotlight hotels and lodges that excel in eco-friendly practices, putting the spotlight on businesses that are leading the charge in sustainable tourism. Meanwhile, the Ecosystem Restoration Hero/Community Award will honor individuals and communities dedicated to restoring and preserving the natural beauty of Eswatini. This award reflects the commitment to not only protect but rejuvenate the environment, ensuring a legacy for future generations.

The upcoming awards ceremony is scheduled for October 24, 2025, under the empowering theme: “Our Land, Our Legacy: Acting on Climate, Nature and Pollution for a Sustainable Eswatini.” This theme reinforces the importance of collective action to address climate change and pollution while fostering a deeper appreciation for the rich biodiversity that Eswatini has to offer.

As more countries gear up to face environmental challenges, the Temvelo Awards serve as a shining example of how localized efforts can make a global impact. Eswatini stands not just as a participant in the sustainability movement but as a beacon for innovation in ecological conservation.
