Eid Al-Adha Sparks Joy Across Egypt: Millions Attend Prayers at Youth Centers

CAIRO – June 7, 2025: In an inspiring display of community and faith, nearly 10 million Egyptians gathered this Friday morning at 1,912 youth centers across the nation to partake in the Eid Al-Adha prayer, according to a statement from the Ministry of Youth and Sports. This vibrant turnout not only reflects the spiritual significance of the holiday but also underscores the pivotal role these youth centers play in Egyptian society.

The buzz around this year’s Eid was palpable, with an impressive 13 million citizens visiting youth centers nationwide on the holiday’s first day. Among these visitors, around three million were engaged in the “Eid is Ahla” (Eid is More Joyful) initiative, an event organized collaboratively by the Ministry’s Central Administration for Youth Centers and regional directorates. This initiative aimed to spread joy and foster a sense of community during the festive period.

Dr. Ashraf Sobhi, Minister of Youth and Sports, expressed enthusiasm for the overwhelming turnout, emphasizing that it highlights the trusted relationship citizens have with youth centers. “The presence of such a large crowd reflects the invaluable societal role that these centers play,” he noted. The Minister also confirmed ongoing efforts to enhance the infrastructure and services at youth centers to better serve all segments of the population.

“Youth centers have become an integral part of Egyptian life,” Minister Sobhi stated. “They are no longer limited to sports activities; they now serve as inclusive spaces for worship, entertainment, and cultural and social engagement.”

He elaborated on the vision for these centers to transform into creative hubs of community interaction. “We are committed to collaborating with various ministries and institutions to offer a wealth of services that will bolster a sense of national belonging and align with the state’s strategy for citizen development.”

This Eid Al-Adha not only signifies a time for prayers but also represents a renewed commitment to community and connectivity among Egyptians. As youth centers continue to evolve, they stand as a testament to the power of collaboration in enhancing public spaces—a bright future awaits as these hubs of interaction grow even more vibrant.
