Celebrating 123 Years of Heroic Service: Egypt Honors Its Lifesaving Ambulance Team!

Celebrating Progress: Egypt Marks 123 Years of Ambulance Service Innovation

On May 24, 2025, Prime Minister Dr. Mostafa Madbouly proudly commemorated a remarkable milestone in Egyptian healthcare—the 123rd anniversary of the Egyptian Ambulance Service. The event, which took place in the bustling setting of 6th of October City, was not only a celebration of the Ambulance Authority’s rich history but also a glimpse into its bright future. Dr. Madbouly inaugurated a state-of-the-art new headquarters for the authority, signifying a commitment to improving emergency medical services across the nation.

As part of the ceremony, several dedicated individuals from the Egyptian Ambulance Authority were honored for their exemplary service. This recognition highlights the tireless efforts of the over 13,000 paramedics and drivers who work around the clock to ensure the safety and well-being of citizens. Their commitment is a testament to the resilience and dedication of the medical professionals who continually respond to emergencies, both at home and during international crises, including aiding those affected by recent turmoil in Palestine and Sudan.

In a significant upgrade to its offerings, Egypt is launching its first-ever marine ambulance service. Initially, three marine ambulances will be deployed to serve the country’s coastal regions, complementing a fleet of six that is currently in development. This innovative step will enhance emergency medical access for those residing in or visiting Egypt’s beautiful shoreline. Moreover, an electronic ambulance guidance system has begun operation in Port Said and the 6th of October Governorates, further streamlining ambulance deployment and response times.

Adding to the list of advancements, the Egyptian Ambulance Authority plans to introduce various new services aimed at meeting both emergency and non-emergency needs. The launch of a mobile app named “Isaefni,” which translates to “Save Me” in Arabic, is a game-changer. This app will provide users with easier access to ambulance services, ensuring help is just a tap away.

Dr. Amr Rashid, the head of the Egyptian Ambulance Authority, noted the substantial growth and evolution of the service in recent years, emphasizing the importance of adapting to both local needs and global challenges. With more than 3,264 fully equipped ambulances, the authority is well-equipped to address the healthcare needs of Egyptians.

As Egypt continues to innovate and expand its healthcare services, this anniversary serves as a reminder of the importance of readiness and resilience in the face of emergencies. The future looks promising for the Egyptian Ambulance Service, and it stands as a beacon of hope for many.
