In a memo dated March 6, 2025, from the Registrar’s office, the Vice-Chancellor, Prof. Folasade Ogunsola, announced the commencement of this groundbreaking implementation. The newly formed Faculty comprises three distinct departments: Mass Communication, Public Relations and Advertising, and Journalism, Broadcasting and Media Studies. This restructuring paves the way for a variety of specialized programs, including Bachelor’s, Master’s, and PhD degrees in areas like Mass Communication, Public Relations, Advertising, Journalism, and Broadcasting.

Prof. Oloruntola Sunday, the Head of Department, expressed his excitement in an interview, noting that the first classes under this innovative structure will kick off in October 2025. He highlighted that this decision was in alignment with recommendations from the National Universities Commission (NUC), which has recently revised the curriculum standards for various programs, including those in Mass Communication.
