MTC 4Life Project: Empowering Namibia’s Youth for a Brighter Future
In a bold move to combat youth unemployment across Namibia, MTC has allocated an impressive N.5 million for its innovative MTC 4Life project. This initiative aims to uplift at least 40 youths from the Zambezi, Erongo, Hardap, and Omaheke regions by providing them with valuable skills and training to enhance their employability and entrepreneurial prospects.
The MTC 4Life Project is part of an ongoing commitment to youth empowerment launched in 2023, boasting a cumulative investment of N.5 million over the last two years. So far, this initiative has positively impacted 91 young individuals, reigniting hope and ambition within communities that face challenges related to unemployment.
MTC’s Corporate Communications Specialist, Erasmus Nekundi, revealed that the response has been overwhelming, with over 250 Namibian youths applying for this unique opportunity. “The MTC 4Life programme is designed to empower those young dreamers—those who may be sitting at home with big aspirations but lack the knowledge or capital to turn those dreams into a reality,” Nekundi highlighted.
This year, the program is particularly exciting as it focuses on eight different trades: animation, carpentry, hairstyling, electrical and solar installation, upholstery and welding, barbering, and brick manufacturing. This diverse array of skills ensures that participants can choose a path that resonates with their interests and career goals.
To maintain the program’s efficiency, MTC is currently accepting applications from four selected regions, with plans to expand into other areas in the coming years. “Next year, we look forward to extending our reach and making a difference in more communities across Namibia,” Nekundi stated.
The MTC 4Life initiative not only provides theoretical training but also practical experience, ensuring participants receive a comprehensive educational journey. Each successful candidate will complete a one-week classroom training session in Windhoek, followed by hands-on training at their business operations under the supervision of seasoned trainers. Furthermore, upon completion of the program, each participant will be equipped with a toolkit and an additional N,000 in capital, setting them on the path to business ownership or expansion.
This initiative is just the latest in MTC’s long-standing commitment to making a tangible difference in the lives of Namibians. By fostering entrepreneurship and skill development, MTC is helping to create a generation of self-sufficient individuals eager to contribute positively to the nation’s economy.
Stay tuned for updates on this inspiring program and its profound impact on the future of Namibia’s youth!
