During a recent interactive session held at the Governor’s House in Akure, the state’s Governor, Dr. Lucky Orimisan Aiyedatiwa, reaffirmed his administration’s dedication to infrastructural progress, highlighting its vital role in boosting economic development.
The meeting, attended by the Minister of Works, Engr. David Umahi, marks the second in a series of collaborative efforts aimed at steering the 71km alignment for Ondo State’s section of the Lagos-Calabar Coastal Highway. This follows the initial stakeholder meeting on October 31, 2024, which laid the groundwork for this monumental project that promises to significantly enhance travel and commerce along this crucial route.
Governor Aiyedatiwa expressed his gratitude to President Bola Ahmed Tinubu for increasing federal presence in Ondo State, endorsing various infrastructure initiatives, including the Ore-Ondo-Akure dualisation project and the establishment of a federal teaching hospital. “We have not had it so good in recent times with federal projects in our State,” he stated, listing various significant developments such as the Akure – Ore Dual Carriageway and the ambitious Ondo Deep Sea Port project.
The Governor emphasized that these projects not only create immediate economic benefits but also lay the foundation for sustained regional development. His vision includes a robust economic strategy bolstered by improved road networks, ultimately benefiting not only Ondo State but the entire South-West region of Nigeria. Aiyedatiwa also called for additional federal assistance to address pressing issues like the Ayetoro sea incursion, which is critical for both environmental stability and economic activity.
In his address, Minister Umahi praised the inhabitants of Ondo State for their unwavering support, reassuring them that all necessary measures for the execution of the project’s 71km segment are already in place. “We are committed to expediting these road projects for the betterment of the community,” he assured stakeholders present.
