Baze Varsity Makes History with Jamila Shu’ara as Its First Female Vice Chancellor!

In an exciting development for Nigeria’s educational landscape, Baze University, based in Abuja, has welcomed a new leadership team aimed at elevating the institution to new heights of excellence. The university has appointed the accomplished Professor Jamila Shu’ara as its new Vice-Chancellor, marking a significant milestone as she becomes the first female to hold this pivotal position at the institution. Her tenure is set for five years, during which she is expected to spearhead innovative educational strategies and programs suited for an ever-evolving global knowledge economy.

Accompanying Professor Shu’ara in this leadership transition is Professor Abiodun Adeniyi, who has been named the new Registrar of Baze University. Additionally, Dr. Dogo Mohammed Waziri will continue to serve as the Chief Medical Director (CMD) of the Baze University Hospital, ensuring that the institution’s medical services maintain the highest standards of care.

These appointments were announced by the Chancellor and founder of Baze University, Yusuf Datti Baba-Ahmed, during a recent media briefing following the 37th meeting of the University Board of Trustees (BoT). Baba-Ahmed expressed confidence in the newly appointed leaders and emphasized their role in driving the university’s next phase of innovation within a complex landscape of knowledge production, impartation, and sharing.

Professor Jamila Shu’ara brings a wealth of experience to her new role, having previously served as the university’s Registrar and as the Director of Strategy and Director of Academic Planning. Her extensive background in academia, administration, and public service positions her as a formidable force in advancing the university’s vision.
