Amman Chamber of Commerce Reveals Stunning JD 1.276 Billion in Export Documentation!

Jordan's Export Landscape: A Look at Recent Trends

The Amman Chamber of Commerce has released new figures highlighting Jordan’s export activities over the past year. With total exports documented at JD 1.276 billion for the first 11 months of 2024, this marks a slight decrease from JD 1.288 billion during the same timeframe in 2023. However, there is a silver lining to these statistics: the number of Certificates of Origin issued rose by a notable 8.9%, reaching a total of 36,342, up from 33,379 the previous year.

This increase in documentation indicates a growing engagement with international markets, showcasing Jordan’s commitment to facilitating trade. #JordanTrade #Economy

Interestingly, Saudi Arabia has emerged as the leading destination for Jordan’s certified exports, with 10,869 Certificates of Origin attributed to this country. The United Arab Emirates follows closely behind with 3,892 certificates, while Iraq secured its position with 2,493 certificates. Other notable destinations include Egypt with 1,086 certificates and Switzerland with 25 certificates.

In terms of export value, Iraq stands out as the top player, accounting for JD 645 million, whereas exports to Saudi Arabia totaled JD 108 million, Egypt JD 96 million, the UAE JD 75 million, and Switzerland approximately JD 50 million.

The composition of exports reveals an interesting mix, with re-exports leading the way at JD 639 million. Industrial products follow at JD 270 million, agricultural products at JD 177 million, and Arab-origin products totaling JD 83 million. This diverse export portfolio not only strengthens Jordan’s economic framework but also showcases its varied production capabilities.

Certificates of Origin are critical documents in international trade, verifying the original country of goods. The Amman Chamber of Commerce issues these certificates for various categories ranging from agricultural products and livestock to raw materials and industrial goods. This process is governed by Article 29 of the Jordanian Chambers of Commerce Regulation No. 45 of 2009 and the subsequent Certificate of Origin directives established in 2013.

While there may be fluctuations in the export values, the overall growth in documentation reflects a robust commitment to enhancing Jordan’s trade relations globally. As the nation navigates through these economic waters, continued support for diverse export categories is crucial for fostering an even more resilient economy. #BusinessNews #Economy

Ultimately, Jordan’s progressive trade efforts are paving the way for a brighter economic future, contributing to regional stability and growth.
