New Leadership: Abiodun Welcomes Two New Permanent Secretaries!

In a significant move to enhance the leadership within Ogun State’s civil service, Governor Dapo Abiodun announced the appointment of two new Permanent Secretaries on Tuesday. This announcement reflects the state’s commitment to ensuring that only the most qualified individuals are in key administrative roles, as stated by the Ogun State Head of Service, Mr. Kehinde Onasanya.

The new appointees, Dr. Ogunsanya Olaitan and Mr. Abdul Suraj Olubamiro, bring a wealth of experience and expertise to their new positions. Dr. Olaitan is a highly respected Consultant in Surgery with a career that spans over three decades within the Ogun State Civil Service. He joined the civil service back in 1992 and has held various impactful roles, most recently as the Director of Planning, Research, and Statistics at the Ogun State Hospitals Management Board. His educational background includes a degree from the prestigious University of Ibadan, positioning him as a prominent figure in the state’s health sector.

Mr. Olubamiro, on the other hand, has been a dedicated member of the Ogun State Civil Service since 1991. He previously served as the State Director of Physiotherapy and Medical Rehabilitation. He holds a Bachelor of Science in Physiotherapy from the University of Lagos and furthered his education with a postgraduate degree in Planning, Research, and Statistics from the Federal University of Agriculture, Abeokuta in 2011. His extensive knowledge and training make him a valuable asset to the leadership team.

The selection process for these appointments adhered to the provisions of Section 208(c) of the 1999 Constitution, emphasizing merit and professionalism. The Head of Service noted that both appointees were chosen from a pool of directors who successfully completed the Ogun State Pipeline Leadership Development Programme. This initiative aims to nurture future leaders within the civil service, ensuring that only the most capable individuals ascend to higher responsibilities.

In welcoming the new Permanent Secretaries, Governor Abiodun emphasized the importance of commitment, diligence, and a passion for excellence in their new roles. This initiative is part of the governor’s broader strategy to strengthen governance in Ogun State, setting a positive course for effective administration.

With these appointments, Ogun State is poised for enhanced service delivery and strategic development, laying a solid foundation for growth and prosperity in the region.
