New Leadership Unveiled: Tinubu Names Governing Board for NWDC!

New Vision for Northwest Development: President Tinubu Proposes Governing Board

In an exciting development for Nigeria’s Northwest region, President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has taken a significant step toward revitalizing the area by forwarding the names of the inaugural Governing Board of the North West Development Commission (NWDC) to the Senate for approval. This initiative aims to catalyze growth and development in one of the country’s most vibrant areas.

This announcement was made public in a statement by Bayo Onanuga, the Special Adviser to the President on Information and Strategy, who noted that the action follows President Tinubu’s signing of the NWDC Bill into law on July 24 — a move seen as a critical milestone in the establishment of this commission designed to foster development initiatives across the North West.

The appointed Chairman of the Governing Board is Ambassador Haruna Ginsau from Jigawa, who brings a wealth of diplomatic experience to the table. Alongside him, Professor Abdullahi Shehu Ma’aji from Kano has been nominated to serve as the Managing Director and Chief Executive Officer (MD/CEO) of the commission. Both leaders are expected to steer the NWDC toward effectively fulfilling its mandate.

The members of the board represent a cross-section of the region, showcasing talent and expertise from various backgrounds. The dynamic group includes Dr. Yahaya Umar Namahe (Sokoto), Hon. Aminu Suleiman (Kebbi), Sen. Tijani Yahaya Kaura (Zamfara), Hon. Abdulkadir S. Usman (Kaduna), Hon. Engr. Muhammad Ali Wudil (Kano), Shamsu Sule (Katsina), and Nasidi Ali (Jigawa). Together, these individuals bring diverse perspectives and experiences essential for addressing the unique challenges and opportunities facing the Northwest.

With a clear focus on sustainable development, the NWDC is poised to play an instrumental role in elevating the socio-economic status of the region. Local stakeholders and citizens alike are hopeful that this commission will spur infrastructural improvements, enhance socio-economic activities, and ultimately provide better opportunities for the people of the North West.

As the confirmation process progresses in the Senate, the residents of Nigeria’s Northwest are eager to witness how these appointments will translate into tangible benefits for the region. This initiative reflects the commitment of President Tinubu’s administration to prioritize development and promote unity across the country.

Stay tuned for further updates on this important venture as Nigeria’s Northwest embarks on a new journey of growth and transformation.
