An Ivorian man went viral for asking a Senegalese fan for her number during the Round of 16 clash between the two nations.
An Ivory Coast fan has apologised to his wife after going viral attempting to flirt with a rival supporter.
On the pitch, the 2023 Africa Cup of Nations have provided spectators a range of unforgettable moments including the teams considered to be of the strongest on the continent being knocked out before the quarter-finals, headline-grabbing goal celebrations and fans celebrating results of other teams.

Now, however, another incident can be added to the list. During the process of Senegal getting knocked out of the tournament by hosts Ivory Coasts in the Round of 16, an Ivorian attempted to advance on an attractive Lions of Teranga supporter.
His actions would have, perhaps, gone under the radar had it not been for the culprit’s marital situation.
Anselme Santos was captured on live television, seemingly whispering words of seduction and attempting to get the number of the Senegalese lady who was there to support her national football team.
Reacting to going viral on social media for his advances, it was discovered that not only was Santos married but he was also a father.
Our Uncle (????Anselme Santos) has finally spoken.??”In the euphoria, I told [the woman in the video] ‘give me your number’. It wasn’t mean, but she didn’t want to. So I didn’t insist. Following his moment of madness, the Ivorian was invited onto a television show where he revealed what was going through his mind during the now-viral incident and apologised to the members of his family.
“All the Ivorians were happy that day, because we had a very strong team. From the hotel, we were accommodating the Senegalese. We took the bus together to get to the stadium,” he said on a local television channel per YOP L-FRII.
“Once there, Ivory Coast conceded a first goal, which saddened us. The Senegalese were trying to trick us, but that’s the game ,” he added.
“When Ivory Coast won, I too started to tease the Senegalese. I was installed upstairs. When I saw the young lady swinging the Senegalese flag, I approached her to challenge her. We were having fun.
“In the euphoria, I told her: ‘Give your number, give your number’. It wasn’t mean, but she didn’t want to. So I didn’t insist. Even afterwards, I didn’t bring it up again. I returned to the stands.”
