Take it back? Nando’s does U-turn by praising Bafana Bafana

Nando’s is known for its spicy commentary for all things South African – Bafana Bafana included. But following the national team’s second consecutive win at the AFCON tournament, the fast food chain has had to eat its words.

The boys in yellow and green have progressed to Round 16 after their draw against Tunisia on Wednesday evening.

In a tweet, the sassy account posted an image that read: “From haai Bafana, to halfway there.” The tweet was captioned: “In our defence, we got through to the other side!”

In 2022, Nandos poked fun at Bafana’s disastrous history of playing. This after SA’s female squad Banyana Banyana – secured a victory of WAFCON that year.

The cheeky eatery tweeted ahead of the finale against Morocco: “Watch and learn, boys. Banyana, show them flames”.

WHO WILL BAFANA BAFANA PLAY NEXT?

According to Euro Sport, Bafana Bafana will next play the winner of AFCON’s Group F, possibly Morocco.

The game will take place on Tuesday, 30 January, in host country Ivory Coast
