Egypt’s President Abdel Fattah El Sisi Saturday said the state has exerted great effort to establish a huge sports infrastructure, topped by the Olympic City in the New Administrative Capital (NAC), which comprises 22 sports facilities constructed in line with the Olympic standards.
The president made the remarks during inspecting the exercises of the top national football team in preparation for its participation in the African Cup of Nations in Côte d’Ivoire.
The state has renovated 4,500 youth centers nationwide, the president said, highlighting the ongoing upgrade of the state’s sports infrastructure.
The state has started the construction of the International City for Olympic Games six years ago and has finalized it since four months, President Sisi said, noting that the state has attached great importance to fully prepare youth at the sports level to make them capable of representing Egypt at international tournaments.
He expressed pleasure that seven professional Egyptian football players are playing in European and international leagues, voicing desire that their number would increase in the future.
The president wished luck for the players of the national football team in its trip to Côte d’Ivoire, where the African Cup of Nations will take place.
