PUMA dominates AFCON 2023: remaining most visible sports brand

The 34th Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON), organized by the Confédération Africaine de Football (CAF), is in full swing, with the matches heating up as the top 16 teams start to shape up.

And, above all, in terms of brands and kits, one can agree that there’s a noticeable prevalence of the PUMA brand around the field. Yes, that’s because PUMA took over as CAF’s technical partner from November 2023.

The German sportswear brand supplies the official match ball at CAF tournaments, referees’ kits, and players’ bibs. It also engages in several marketing opportunities inside and outside the stadium.

But wait, there’s more! PUMA is truly thriving at AFCON and enjoying the spotlight. They’re the proud sponsors of not one, not two, but a whopping six African teams, including Morocco, Ivory Coast, Egypt, Ghana, Senegal, and Guinea.

On the flip side, other brands like adi, Nike, Umbro, Kappa, and Le Coq Sportif each make a solo appearance with individual teams.

PUMA maintains its prominence as teams like Senegal, Egypt, and Morocco bolster their standing in their groups, adding to the brand’s pride.
