President Sisi Visits National Team Camp Ahead of African Cup of Nations

In a significant show of support for sports and national pride, Egyptian President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi visited the Egyptian national football team’s training camp in the New Administrative Capital on Saturday. This visit comes as the team intensifies preparations for their participation in the upcoming 2023 African Cup of Nations.

During his visit, President el-Sisi, accompanied by Sports Minister Ashraf Sobhi, toured the Capital Stadium facilities and met with the players. The team is currently based at Egypt Olympic City in the New Administrative Capital, strategically preparing for the African Cup of Nations, which will take place from January 13 to February 11.

As part of their preparation, the Egyptian team, often referred to as the Pharaohs, is scheduled to play a friendly match against Tanzania on January 7. Following this, they will travel to Côte d’Ivoire to compete in the African Cup of Nations. Egypt is in Group D of the tournament, alongside teams from Ghana, Cape Verde, and Mozambique.

The African Cup of Nations is a prestigious event in African football, and Egypt has a distinguished history in the tournament, holding the record for the most titles won. The Pharaohs’ participation is a source of national unity and pride, bringing together fans from across the country.
