The Nigerian Television Authority has successfully secured the exclusive broadcasting rights for the highly anticipated 2024 Africa Cup of Nations after MultiChoice inability to do so.
The news follows MultiChoice’s failure to secure the rights for the football event which it held in past years.
The NTA on Wednesday shared the news via its X handle: “NTA signs memorandum of understanding with Afro Sports for the transmission of 52 matches of Africa Cup of Nations in Cote d’Ivoire.”
NTA and Afro Sports teamed through a memorandum of understanding. This partnership will ensure that NTA broadcast all 52 matches of the AFCON tournament.
The TotalEnergies AFCON, commonly referred to as AFCON or CAN, is widely recognised as the Africa Cup of Nations.
The competition involves 24 teams competing in the tournament. These teams are divided into six groups; each consisting of four teams. The top two teams from each group then progress to the knockout stages.
The competition scheduled to commence on Saturday, January 13, 2024, and end on Sunday, February 11, 2024, will hold in Cote d’Ivoire.
