Morocco, Côte d’Ivoire Discuss Means to Enhance Cooperation in Agriculture

RABAT, Jan 21 (NNN-XINHUA) — Agricultural ministers of Morocco and Cote d’Ivoire held talks in Germany’s capital Berlin on strengthening agricultural cooperation between the two countries, Morocco’s official news agency MAP reported.

Speaking after their meeting on the sidelines of the Berlin International Green Week, Moroccan Agricultural Minister Mohammed Sadiki said Morocco and Cote d’Ivoire have many experiences to share in the agriculture sector, noting that the two parties have agreed to exchange views on the water issue.

Morocco, which suffers from repeated droughts, has developed techniques to mobilize and save water through the modernization of irrigation systems, Sadiki told reporters.

He added that the Moroccan experience can benefit Cote d’Ivoire in transferring water from water-rich to water-poor regions.

Kobenan Kouassi Adjoumani, minister of agriculture and rural development of Cote d’Ivoire, said the meeting was an opportunity to explore the cooperation prospects between the two countries, adding that Morocco is far ahead in water management and represents a model for Cote d’Ivoire, reported MAP. — NNN-XINHUA
