Iheanacho who has been a major doubt for Nigeria’s campaign at the Africa Cup of Nations, is now expected to join up with the squad in Ivory Coast.
Peseiro offered the update on the 27 year-old’s rehabilitation, during a post-match interview on Monday in Abu Dhabi.
“Kelechi will meet us in Cote d’Ivoire he has completed his rehabilitation in Leicester,” the Super Eagles coach said in the interview.
The Portuguese coach had led his side in a friendly match against Guinea, which ended 2-0, a outcome he admitted wasn’t too pleasing.
However, Jose Peseiro explained that the team tried new game formations and wholesome squad rotation to give some players rest and others the chance for game minutes during the camping.
Only 24 hours before, the Nigerian team had played a local team, whom they defeated 11-0.
Next for the Super Eagles is their opening game at the Africa Cup of Nations against Equatorial Guinea.
