GFA spokesperson vows Black Stars will fight for every point at AFCON 2023

Henry Asante Twum, the spokesperson for the Ghana Football Association (GFA), has reassured fans that the senior national team, the Black Stars, is determined to fight for every point at the upcoming 2023 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON).

“Ghana or Black Stars may not be ranked among the best or favourites but we know you don’t get results at AFCON on a silver platter.

You have to work hard,” Mr Asante Twum told Woezor TV.

“We will fight to win every single point and win every game. The players are determined to do that,” he added.

The Black Stars will be participating in the 34th edition of AFCON in Ivory Coast, commencing in 10 days.

Despite recent unimpressive performances, including an early exit at the group phase in the last AFCON edition, Asante Twum emphasized in an interview that the team is committed to making a significant impact by striving to win every single point.

The Black Stars began their camp on January 2 in Kumasi, gearing up for a friendly against Namibia before heading to Ivory Coast on January 10.

Placed in Group B, Ghana will face Cape Verde, Egypt, and Mozambique in the tournament, starting with a match against Cape Verde on January 14, 2024, at the Felix Houphouet Boigny Stadium in Abidjan.
