Yetunde Oni has been appointed as the first female CEO of Union Bank, making history in the Nigerian financial landscape. With a 25-year career marked by excellence and unwavering leadership, Oni is well-equipped to lead the bank in this new era.

Oni’s academic background includes a Bachelor’s degree in Economics from the University of Ibadan and an MBA in Business Administration from Bangor University. Her career in banking began in 1994 with Prime Merchant Bank, followed by 11 years at Ecobank Nigeria as a Relationship Manager. In 2005, she joined Standard Chartered Bank Nigeria and continuously rose through the ranks, holding various roles including Senior Account Relationship Manager, Wholesale Banking Branch Head, and Head of Local Corporates.

In 2014, Oni became Managing Director & Country Head of Commercial Banking for West Africa, where she spearheaded the commercial clients segment, achieving significant success. Before joining Union Bank, she served as the first female Managing Director and CEO at Standard Chartered Bank in Sierra Leone, further demonstrating her adaptability and resilience.

Throughout her career, Oni has shown commitment to talent development and team building. Her focus on client solutions is evident in her ability to build strong relationships and exceed expectations.
